MACRETRO BALTIC BAWBAGS RIDE 22 FEBUARY 2015
A few pics from the annual Macretro ride held at Dunkeld early each year. Its generally the first proper get together of the year and being winter its usually a cold frozen ride. The weather does vary quite a bit year to year with some being clear and crisp to others with decent falling and lying snow.
This year I shared the drive down to Dunkeld with my good friend Brian. Its around a 4 hour drive for me, maybe slightly less so it was good to have Brians company for half the journey. It ends up being a long day.
We arrived around 10 for 10.30 start, and as can be imagined in the cold winter and also being the first get together for a while, that there is a pretty casual pace getting ready to ride. Lots of catching up during the day and a very casual, just cruising and stretching the legs type of ride.
The terrain/route changes year to year depending on weather and other things.
The area we ride in is generally up into the high hills/mountains of the highlands so there is endless trails.
This year was a good turnout and while it was a retro ride, there were a lot of Fat bikes and modern ish rides along. Myself and Brian were on our Surly 1X1s.
