Saturday 30th April 2022 - Blog update on the updates ..................

 Okay! Latest edit - 30/04/2022

So I never really got round to continuing to update the blog but as always I keep going out riding, having fun, mini adventures etc that I really should keep documenting for myself and maybe my son. The more I ride the further I am falling behind with this and the more I put it off.

While I realise nobody else really looks at it except for the rare visitor who is most likely lost or stumbles upon it from some obscure post, but none the less it is something I like to document. If anyone else likes it please let me know.

I will attempt to post up a load of the more interesting rides and bring it up to date, these will most likely be more photo posts with a brief description rather than my usual rambling.

Was meant to be out this afternoon heading south on the Mercian but seen as how it's raining now and family is out for an hour or so, I may as well make a start.

Wish me luck ;)

Sunday 16/01/2022 - Bringing the Blog Up to date!!

Hello anyone out there who may be in any way interested in this blog. :)

As could maybe be inferred from my posts the last week or so I am endeavouring to bring the blog up to date once again.

I seem to have let it slip for the last 6 months or so and while we are still living under some restrictions at various times throughout this time, I have had some great rides in that time, many on my own and many with my great riding buddy Brian.

I will get them up over the next couple of weeks, and while the text may be abridged heavily there is quite a few photos and one or two changes to the fleet!

I will post them headed with the dates they were ridden as usual and do them in order so hopefully they will flow at some point up to the present.

And if anyone out there is interested at all then give a shout or a wave.

26th June 2021 Big Dummy ride - Thurso

 Saturday 26th June 2021

Big Dummy Ride - Thurso

Out and about this afternoon on the Big Dummy. Had made some changes to the setup along with the recent addition of the Surly ET tyres and needed to see how they all worked together. Original fork was back on and I had to use the rim off my 1X1 for the tyre. So back to + size tyres rather than full fat.

Lovely, as did a run to Thurso to pick some shopping up along with some bits from the local bike shop.

Now out to dinner!

What a life, with my wonderful family!

13th June 2021 - Motor Cycle - BMW R100S ride

BMW R100S

Out and about this afternoon for a couple of hours tootling about the back roads of the county, trying hard to avoid the rain. Crazy wind gusts today meant taking my Jack Taylor into town wasn't going to happen so I took the old motorised bike instead and then took the very long way home.

Not my usual posting but I do have a non acoustic bike and the enjoyable ride it is :)

6th June 2021 - New Baby Fatty Fat Bike for Caleb

6th June - Calebs New Fatbike

Caleb had done so well with his cycling proficiency at school that we thought it was time to give him the Baby Fatty fat bike we had hidden away in the shed. We waited until after dinner. He was clearly very happy so out with the Pugsley and off to the beach with Heather walking Spot.

One happy little guy.

12th June -  Another ride to the local quiet beach on the Fatbikes.

Caleb is loving having that freedom to ride along the coast and is really just enjoying playing about on his Baby fatty.  :)

16th May 2021 - Flying Scot Ventoux Ride

 Flying Scot Ventoux - 16th May 2021

Out riding this afternoon with the little man.

We were out solo today rather than our usual Flying Scot tandem. After getting lots done yesterday around home we had a fairly cruisy day with breakfast at Annies Bakery, a bit of bike building to change some things on the Scot and then out riding in the lovely sunshine.

Caleb was out hitting the hills on his 3 speed tourer and I was on the Flying Scot Ventoux. Certainly a nice day for it. The Scot was a pleasure, as usual to ride.

Sunday 2nd May 2021 - Ride with Caleb and Big Dummy ET tyres shakedown ride

A few photos from a ride out today with my son Caleb on his tourer here in the north of Scotland.

After switching the fat tyres and wheel around on the Dummy last weekend down in size to the Surly ET's I found once I had the rear fully inflated it was rubbing on the back brace bar, only just, by a midges baw hair, it's a unit of measurement in Scotland, equivalent to a mosquitos scrotum hair. After taking it off and reseating it, it was better and usable with no rubbing but still close. The issue is the 60mm rim so after trying it on the rear Spank rim which is 42mm it seemed to clear fine. So it looks like I need to find a 36 hole Spank to lace to my Alfine as well as a front, so this one can go back on my 1X1.
Such a lovely day up here so we just meandered out and about the back roads above home enjoying riding together. Getting Caleb used to going further and getting used to the odd car before tackling the main roads.
Even though it was a naturally slower pace while riding with my boy , the Dummy felt back to it's old ways with the ET's on, far more nimble and far less drag than the 4inch tyre on the front and hookworm rear we have been using the last couple of years. I just think now the little mans riding on his own that these may even do for the dirt and gravel we ride, not that I am dismantling the Fat set up or moving it on just now.
These will certainly make the commute to town a bit quicker.
